A Sewing Circle for Woman
For all skill levels, beginners and practiced sewers alike. The Singing Thread is a Sewing Circle for We’Moon who enjoy (or wish to enjoy) the simple, slow, timeless and meditative practice of hand sewing stitches into cloth. Come sit amongst a group of sisters and explore textiles, embroidery and hand sewing through stories, memories, poetry, metaphors and our personal connection to cloth. The calming mindful activity of hand sewing helps us unwind and be present; it allows our busy mind to rest through the act of doing, and can aid us in well-being and self care.
Within the human experience there is a strong tradition of using a needle and thread to make things that are both practical and beautiful. Using our hands in intentional ways is therapeutic and healing on many levels. Together we will gently and thoughtfully awaken this powerful and ancient wisdom living within our hands. All ways of approaching this craft are welcome.
The Singing Thread Sewing Circle will be hosted each month on the Saturday closest to the Full Moon. This is a free open form, peer-lead circle, where we can inspire each other and share the skills and knowledge of our hands with one another as we work on individual and group projects. Together we are learning to speak the common language of our hands! There are many topics we will explore together; Let us make it real!
